About
Tequila is an online radio station based at the ATRiuM in Glamorgan University’s Cardiff School of Creative & Cultural Industries, and broadcast across the internet from its website at: www.tequilaradio.co.uk.
Although this broadcasting will be an integral part of Tequila, the venture also aims at creating a student radio society, featuring a wide range of social events.
It is run by the students, for the students, Glamorgan University has previously won awards for its radio access schemes, achieving two BBC Radio 1 awards, including ‘Best Student Station of The Year’, with its ‘Fusion Fm’ that ran in 1999 and 2001. The University then joined forces with GTFM radio (which began as a community project in 1999), becoming Wales’ first community station in 2001.
Since the creation of the Glamorgan University School of Cultural & Creative Industries in Cardiff, the University has been crying out for its own radio station and radio society that can truly showcase the work and ambitions of the great range of talented individuals that the University attracts. The platform offers everyone the chance to be a part of something special.
Tequila radio is self funded, based around members signing up to the society for £10. The licensing for the station’s first 2 years is funded by the university itself, as the station gathers momentum and becomes self sustainable. More...
